KUALA LUMPUR, Apr 9 (Sin Chew Daily) — Negotiations over the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project between Malaysia and China are almost finalized.
The construction cost of the revised project is estimated to be between RM39 and RM46 billion.
From the information made available to Sin Chew Daily, in addition to reduced cost, the route of the revived ECRL project will also be modified, and the terminus in Selangor will likely not be in Gombak but somewhere else.
According to the information source, the ECRL deal with Beijing is unrelated to palm oil sale.
“The Malaysian team initially requested to cut down the construction cost to RM36 billion but upon negotiation, both sides have agreed on a cost of between RM39 and RM46 billion.
